As part of the direct mail marketing team at CRC Press/Taylor & Francis we would often be creating pieces for books long before they were published. Sometimes we were lucky enough to have great color artwork or photos available from the author. In other cases, like the one above, we learned to adapt, finding and creating appropriate artwork out of existing materials on hand. Working with a team of talented copywriters and fellow artists we turned out dozens and dozens of these things every month. I used to average 30 new pieces a month.
